Aurora Master Plan

Aurora, Oregon

The Aurora Colony Historic District contains the nucleus of a major American communal society, which developed in the later part of the 19th century. It is only one of a kind in the Pacific Northwest, and is distinct in its architectural form, style, detail and expression. It is the most extensive 19th century architectural grouping in the Northwest built by people of Germanic background. The goal of the project was to develop master plan design concepts suitable for the historic district. These concepts would help Aurora in addressing the impacts on the district of new development and proposed transportation improvements. The plan also developed design concepts and a framework for improvements and landscape in the public right of way.
