Cusick & Company Bank Building

Albany, Oregon

The Cusick & Company Bank Building, circa 1895 is a composite building. The corner bank block expanded eastward two bays by replacing the smaller buildings present on the site. The Italianate styled building is constructed with a masonry exterior that features ornamental plaster and wood storefronts.

The project included a rehabilitation of the exterior façade that removed the 1960’s era metal windows and storefronts while recreating the ornamental plaster and wood display windows. At the interior, new tenant spaces were crafted by removing suspended ceilings, restoration of the pressed metal ceilings, wood floors and vaults. The rehabilitation’s first phase was the easternmost bays [seen on the left in the photo below]. This was followed by the corner bay that was the original bank portion. This last portion restored the arched windows on the first floor and the corner entry which was modified for handicap access.
